Triangel Cycle Route

Hop on your bike and explore the district of Steinfurt on a route that makes cycling a real pleasure: the Triangel connects the towns and parishes of Metelen, Neuenkirchen, Ochtrup, Rheine, Burgsteinfurt and Wettringen over a distance of around 62 kilometres.

This has created a fast and convenient cycle route that opens up a whole new world of possibilities – for your leisure time, your daily life and your explorations through the northern Münsterland.

The best bit is that you decide for yourself where your ride begins. That’s because the Triangel is a circular route that takes you right into the heart of the towns, but also out into the region’s peaceful countryside. At times you’ll cycle with sweeping views across fields and meadows; at others, trees will line the path; and sometimes it’s worth stopping for a short break.

What to expect along the route

At Offlumer See in Neuenkirchen, for example, the ‘Ewige Liebe’ restaurant awaits you; in the Metelener Heide, a mini-golf course and beer garden invite you to take a break; in Ochtrup you can visit the Designer Outlet Centre, and in Rheine you can enjoy the lively town centre with its many pubs and restaurants – particularly lovely in summer on the Sommerdeck by the River Ems.

But it’s also worth taking a brief detour from the route. A side trip to the picturesque Haus Welbergen moated castle, the large Bagno Park, the Falkenhof Museum or Villa Hecking will make your tour even more varied.

The Triangel shows just how attractive cycle routes can be. Greater safety, a faster pace and plenty of that Münsterland atmosphere make this route a journey that doesn’t just take you to your destination, but also allows you to slow down and enjoy the moment.
