You start your tour at Aasee in Münster, near Annette-Allee at the Segelclubheim. Thanks to its extensive promenades and beautiful meadows, locals and visitors alike enjoy spending time at the 40-hectare reservoir. Leave the lake behind you and cycle towards Mecklenbeck. Past Senden, the route runs along the Dortmund-Ems Canal for a while before branching off south towards Lüdinghausen.
On arrival in the moated castle town of Lüdinghausen, you will already see the first castle: Kakesbeck Castle! After the first 35 kilometres, it's time for a break at Café Indigo, which tempts you with homemade cakes and other delicacies. The next magnificent estate is just a few kilometres away: Vischering Castle. Once used as a fortified defence system, today it is a popular excursion destination and a favourite subject for many photographers.
Idyllic route through meadows and fields past Nordkirchen. Here you should definitely make a detour to Nordkirchen Castle, which is not called the "Versailles of Westphalia" for nothing. It is probably the most famous castle in Münsterland and impresses with its imposing architecture and beautifully landscaped park.
After passing through the Senden district of Ottmarsbocholt, you approach Münster again in a northerly direction. Shortly before Amelsbüren, you will come across the Dortmund-Ems Canal for the second time, which you follow to Münster. The canal promenade, which you are now on, is particularly popular with racing cyclists.
At the harbour, turn left towards the train station. At the end of the tour, it's worth stopping at Münster's city harbour, which has developed from a cargo handling area into a creative quay. Art, culture and restaurants alternate here. The tour ends at Bremer Platz near the main railway station, where there are also numerous restaurants for a cosy end to the tour.
