THE STROTTERN ON OCTOBER 24 AT ASBECK ABBEY

Buenos Aires has the tango, Lisbon the fado, Paris the chansons. Vienna has the Wienerlied - as an unmistakable expression of the city's attitude to life. And the Wienerlied is alive! The audience at the Münsterland Festival in the Dormitorium Asbeck can see this for themselves live. With the duo Die Strottern.

For more than 20 years, Klemens Lendl and David Müller have been dusting off the Viennese song so thoroughly, both musically and in terms of content, that a local song tradition has been transformed into music that is understood all over the world. Awards such as the German World Music Prize RUTH or the AMADEUS Austrian Music Award are proof of this. It doesn't hurt to know and like the original Viennese song from past centuries. But you don't need either to enjoy the two thoroughbred artists Klemens Lendl and David Müller.

The duo Die Strottern bring so much comedy and artistry to the table that there is no room for pondering and questioning anyway. Viennese song at its very best, performed in a contemporary twist.

THE VENUE: ASBECK ABBEY, DORMITORY

The dormitory is part of the former monastery complex of Asbeck Abbey. This building is linked to 800 years of monastery and convent history in Westmünsterland. The adjoining cloister gallery attracts particular attention due to its two storeys. Today, the building ensemble provides a forum for cultural events, concerts and exhibitions. The Abbey Museum is located on the upper floor. Here you can discover medieval liturgical instruments, valuable figurines, objects from the everyday life of noble ladies and historical maps.
