CINEMA ON THE COUNTRY
On the occasion of the Münsterland Festival, the film series "Kino aufs Land" is making a stop in Olfen. Together with the Filmwerkstatt Münster, the Münsterland Festival is bringing cinematic art from Austria and the Münsterland to the forum of the Kunst- und Kulturverein Olfen (KuK Olfen).
Whether fictional, documentary or animated: Different visual worlds and genres flicker across the screen at the short film evening in the Olfonium. From the colorful interior of a factory ("Just in Case"), the gaze wanders into the dimly lit ambience of a Chinese restaurant in Vienna ("Fish") and over to a bar in the Ruhr area ("For Current Events"). In "Die Waschmaschine" ("The Washing Machine"), the self-image of a city dweller is thrown into an uncomfortable spin by an online advertisement. The short film "Obervogelgesang" takes the audience on a journey in black and white, in which reality and fiction merge. At the end of the short film evening, the protagonist of the historical and first Münsterland web series "Haus Kummerveldt" turns the imperial era upside down.
In addition to short films, the event series also brings the people behind the films to the countryside: the makers of the short film "Aus aktuellem Anlass" and "Haus Kummerveldt" will be visiting Olfen and inviting the audience to ask questions. The event celebrates encounters and the shared film experience in conversation and with a short film quiz. After stops in Wettringen, Vadrup and Darup, the short film evening at the Olfonium is the fourth stop in the "Kino aufs Land" series on its tour through the region.
THE VENUE: THE OLFONIUM IN OLFEN
Olfonium - this has been the home of the Olfen Art and Culture Association since 2002. All facets of cabaret are offered in this listed building, from author readings to classical, jazz and rock concerts to theater performances for children and adults as well as cabaret.
Once a month, always on Thursdays, there is a movie day at the Olfonium. The events are given a very special atmosphere by the ongoing exhibitions in the rooms. With around 40 events a year, the Olfonium is a meeting place for people interested in culture from Olfen and the surrounding area. Artists and the public alike appreciate the relaxed, informal atmosphere and the direct contact with each other.
