Virtuoso playing on saxophone and drums

Tenor saxophone meets drums: this is the recipe for success of the current duo project by Finns Timo Lassy and Teppo Mäkynen. A classical formation that follows in the footsteps of John Coltrane and Rashied Ali and combines the strengths of both musicians to create a virtuoso blend of sounds.
Saxophonist, composer and bandleader Timo Lassy is one of the biggest jazz stars Finland has produced in the new millennium. His tenor saxophone sound is robust and self-confident, but never fails to touch emotionally.
Meanwhile, Teppo Mäkynen, who has also won several awards, is convincing on the drums. His playing swings to the bone, no matter which style he chooses. As a duo, the artists go beyond boiling soul jazz to free playing and sonic experiments - to be experienced at the Münsterland Festival in the Kunsthalle Burkamp.

Made possible by the KulturStiftung Masthoff. In cooperation with Kunsthallte Burkamp and the Haltern City Agency.

From October 14 to November 11, 2023, Kunsthalle Burkamp is showing a group exhibition on the theme of "The Few and the Essential". Open on weekends from 12 to 5 pm, admission free.
