MÜNSTER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA ON NOVEMBER 4 IN DRAIFLESSEN
SINFONIEORCHESTER MÜNSTER: AUSTRIAN JOURNAL FOR ORCHESTRA
The Münster Symphony Orchestra will take you on a cultural journey of discovery at the Münsterland Festival on November 4, 2021.
The orchestra's program is dedicated not only to Ludwig van Beethoven's famous "Eroica", but also to two Austrian composers of the recent past. HK Gruber described his CHARIVARI as an "Austrian journal for orchestra", an "officially prescribed mask of coziness [...] behind which Austria has learned to conceal its innermost reaction to its most drastic fluctuations in fate and its complicity in some of them".
The cello concerto by the brilliant Austrian pianist and eccentric Friedrich Gulda is one big provocation: a wild mix of styles from beer tent brass music, Alpine idylls, rock sounds and a dash of avant-garde. And always present: an expressive and virtuoso solo instrument. Shengzhi Guo, solo cellist of the Münster Symphony Orchestra, demonstrates his special skills here.
The concert will be conducted by Golo Berg, General Music Director of the City of Münster.
The event takes place in cooperation with the Draiflessen concert series meetMUSIC.

Draiflessen was founded in 2009 on the initiative of the Brenninkmeijer entrepreneurial family and has been a house of cultures ever since. The art museum, the Draiflessen Collection, regularly presents exhibitions on socially relevant topics that are examined from an artistic and scientific perspective. Each exhibition is complemented by an extensive accompanying program as well as specific educational programs and workshops for adults, children and families. The museum's collection includes a high-ranking collection of prints.
Draiflessen Conference combines music and business. In addition to conferences and meetings, the event center regularly hosts musical events from the meetMUSIC concert series founded in Draiflessen. This year sees the premiere of the meetMUSIC Open Air, which presents excellent young up-and-coming musicians.
