JUHANI KARILA ON OCTOBER 16 AT THE PENSION SCHMIDT IN MÜNSTER

About love, nature and magic - reading and talk
A love story told in a humorous and exciting way: This is the debut novel "The Pike's Curse" by Finnish author Juhani Karila. He will be reading at the Münsterland Festival in the atmospheric Pension Schmidt in Münster.
His novel is about the Finnish woman Elina Ylijaako, who returns to her home village in eastern Lapland. She has three days there to catch a pike. But nothing goes as planned. When a water sprite appears in the swamps, her trip turns into a life-or-death adventure. Meanwhile, a policewoman sets off in search of her and is herself drawn into the mysterious goings-on of magical figures. In a brilliant showdown, the aim is to break a curse that is deeply rooted in Elina's past.
A tragic love story as well as a story about the power of nature, its magic, about man and what he does to nature.
The German translation will be read, enriched with excerpts read by the author in Finnish. German reading, moderation and interpreting: Maximilian Murmann. In cooperation with the Finnish Institute and Pension Schmidt.
THE VENUE: PENSION SCHMIDT IN MÜNSTER

Pension Schmidt stands for coziness and atmosphere. A café during the day and a bar in the evening, it has been offering lovingly designed 'rooms' with rustic furnishings since the beginning of 2012. These include sofa sets like in grandma's living room, a large window front and outdoor seating. In addition to gastronomy, Pension Schmidt is also a venue for live music and culture in the heart of Münster. Guests appreciate the intimacy of the concerts with national and international artists.
