Virtuosity, melodies and surprises

The musician Iiro Rantala is one of Finland's most sought-after jazz pianists - and can be experienced at the Münsterland Festival not only as a soloist in Draiflessen, but also in the HEL Trio at Kulturgut Haus Nottbeck. The Finn is thus returning to his roots: until 2008, he turned Europe's jazz world upside down for two decades with Trio Töykeät.
He is joined by two congenial improvisers: the British bassist Conor Chaplin and the Swedish-Norwegian drummer Anton Eger. Chaplin is a member of the Mercury Prize-nominated band Dinosaur, while Eger is one of the most dazzling drummers on the European jazz scene. The audience can expect virtuosity with catchy melodies, serious music without any sacred seriousness and plenty of surprising twists and turns. The trio creates an evening between classical music and jazz, peppered with humor, charm and unpredictability.

In cooperation with the cultural department of the district of Warendorf and the Kulturgut Haus Nottbeck.
