Nordic jazz with a dose of swing
Inspired by tradition, they create relevant contemporary music: the five musicians of the Martti Vesala Soundpost Quintet mix the modern sounds of Nordic jazz with the more experimental side of the Miles Davis Quintet from the 1960s. The result is music that comes across as fresh but is firmly rooted in the tradition of modern jazz - to be experienced at the Münsterland Festival in Stroetmanns Fabrik.
The Soundpost Quintet from Helsinki plays compositions by trumpeter Martti Vesala. The music reflects the environment in which Vesala grew up: the cold winters, the vastness of Finland, the introverted people. With their third album "Landmarks" from 2022, the Martti Vesala Soundpost Quintet has created something special - a musical blend that combines Nordic influences with infectious swing.

THE VENUE: STROETMANNS FABRIK IN EMSDETTEN
For more than 100 years, Stroetmann's factory in Emsdetten was a place of work. After the B. Stroetmann textile factory closed in the 1980s, cultural and social life moved in with theater, cabaret, concerts, but also courses and discussion groups. In the atrium, the glass-roofed inner courtyard, the supporting association "Sozio-kulturelles Zentrum Emsdetten e.V." brings past and present together with the old factory walls.
