Iiro Rantala goes symphonic
Iiro Rantala is one thing above all - a gifted pianist who is just as convincing as an opera composer and jazz improviser as he is as a profound interpreter of well-known pop melodies. At the Münsterland Festival, he will be performing with the HEL Trio at Kulturgut Haus Nottbeck and as a soloist with the Münster Symphony Orchestra in Draiflessen.
The Finn moves playfully between genres and does what he does best: Doing his own thing. It is this musical horizon that makes Rantala stand out. His jazz easily incorporates classical, pop or rock music, and the Finn makes use of his astonishing technique and exuberant imagination. With his music, the pianist convinces even those who previously thought they didn't like jazz. It is not for nothing that the magazine Jazz thing & Blue Rhythm calls him a "natural phenomenon on the keys".
Since its foundation in 1919, the Münster Symphony Orchestra has developed into a mainstay of musical life in Münster. Numerous prizes and awards recognize the work and supra-regional significance of the orchestra. Invitations to give guest performances have taken the orchestra to Milan, Florence, Modena and Tel Aviv. In addition to classical-romantic repertoire, the performance of contemporary music in collaboration with internationally renowned composers has been part of the orchestra's DNA from the very beginning.
The audience can see this for themselves at the Münsterland Festival: Under the direction of Henning Ehlert, Iiro Rantala and the Münster Symphony Orchestra will perform music by Mozart, Sibelius and Rantala himself - a melancholy program that will thrill the audience with Rantala's profound playing accompanied by the impressive orchestral music.
The concert ticket entitles the holder to free admission to the Draiflessen Collection on the day of the concert. The event takes place in cooperation with meetMUSIC by Draiflessen in Mettingen.
