SOULHOLES ON OCTOBER 15 & 16 IN THE GALLERY HOVESTADT

SOULHOLES - AN AUDIOVISUAL INSTALLATION

Video animations are projected onto two wooden objects, accompanied by specially composed pieces of music that accompany and interpret the installation: The audiovisual installation SOULHOLES awaits interested visitors at the Münsterland Festival on October 15 and 16 at Galerie Hovestadt.

Video artist Francis Eggert and Münster-based video artist Sven Stratmann have created the installation with graphically abstract 2D and 3D video animations. The musical interpretation comes from the musicians Chris Hill and "Derkalavier", who have each composed a piece independently of each other. Chris Hill works primarily with drums, which he alienates using sensor technology and to which he adds electronic sounds. Derkalavier uses the piano as a striking instrument to produce a soundtrack. The result is a 25-minute Gesamtkunstwerk that takes the audience on an audiovisual journey without a starting or ending point.

The installation consists of two letters of the same size, placed next to each other and hovering above the floor. These objects show two separate projections, which, however, appear as a unit again and again by means of sound and image. This creates a permanent interplay of togetherness and separation.

In the fall of 2012, Galerie Hovestadt opened its doors in Nottuln, just outside Münster, in a former barn from the 1920s. It represents young as well as established national and international artists with both contemporary and classical positions in the fields of painting, graphic art and sculpture. They are presented in regular group and solo exhibitions and as part of curatorial projects in other institutions. A landscaped garden, which can be used for temporary art projects and installations, complements the exhibition spaces.
