ESCAPE ARGOT
MÜNSTERLAND FESTIVAL PART 10: ESCAPE ARGOT

Christoph Steiner took a risk: a new musical escapade, for which he took the pen into his own hands and sought out powerful-sounding collaborators. The result could be heard at the Münsterland Festival part 10 at DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst.
Christoph Steiner was already a guest at the Münsterland Festival in 2013 with the formation Hildegard lernt fliegen. He returned to part 10 in 2019 with the trio Escape Argot. Together with Christoph Grab and Florian Favre, Steiner transformed his compositions into his own musical language with an unconventional playing style. The trio brings together three enormously active exponents of the Swiss jazz scene who know how to make use of the free space in this music.
The focus was on the principle of seeing a composition or improvisation as a sound journey that does not have to return to its starting point. Some passages enticed with lyrical melodies and subtle beauty, others with swelling dynamics, surprising twists and challenging bursts of energy. The witty music immediately captured its listeners and oscillated between accessible and more complex passages.

THE VENUE: DA, KUNSTHAUS KLOSTER GRAVENHORST IN HÖRSTEL

The former Cistercian convent of Gravenhorst, which dates back to 1256, was converted into an art museum by the district of Steinfurt with the support of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia during the Regionale 2004. With the church, the mill, the mill pond, the bakery and brewery as well as its moats, orchards and historic bridges, the almost completely preserved convent complex is now a cultural tourist attraction. For more than ten years, it has offered an exciting space for contemporary, interdisciplinary and international art. In addition to participatory art projects, there are changing exhibitions, light and sound art, concerts and an art and history education program.
The DA, Kunsthaus Kloster Gravenhorst has limited wheelchair access.
