Inspiration from nature and culture
Ánnámáret stands for Anna Näkkäläjärvi-Länsman - a musician who belongs to the indigenous Sámi people and looks back to her ancestors in her music. At the Münsterland Festival, the singer will take to the stage at RELíGIO and Berkelmühle together with two other Finnish greats: Ilkka Heinonen and his "jouhikko" - a traditional Finnish lyre that is bowed - and Turkka Inkilä on electronics. She also integrates video art by Marja Viitahuhta into her live performance, which tells more about the family history.
Ánnámáret is not only an impressive performer who lives in Nuorgam, the northernmost village in Finland. She is also an active member of the Sami community in Sápmi, the Sami settlement area. There, Ánnámáret is surrounded by reindeer and nature - an inexhaustible source of inspiration for her music.
