More than two dozen instruments on stage, but only three musicians: this trio led by Austrian musician David Helbock is impressive, versatile and never boring. You can experience this instrumental masterpiece at the Münsterland Festival at Schulze Frenkings Hof in Nottuln.
David Helbock's choice of instruments is largely limited to those with keys, and he likes to play two at the same time. Johannes Bär is responsible for the brass in the band, from trumpet and bass flugelhorn to alphorn and tuba. Andreas Broger, on the other hand, is the master of woodwind instruments: saxophones, clarinets, flute.
For the current CD, David Helbock has taken inspiration from his favorite jazz pianists and always arranged their best-known pieces. The result is exciting, groovy versions of classics such as Watermelon Man (Herbie Hancock) or Bolivia (Cedar Walton). No matter what source material David Helbock chooses: Over the years, the band has developed its own unique sound, which is characterized as much by Austrian folk music as by original compositions. The band is a rollercoaster ride of emotions - music for the ear and exciting for the eye.

The history of Hof Schulze Frenking goes back almost 1000 years. The farm in Appelhülsen was first mentioned in a document in 1022. In earlier years, it was a typical Münsterland farmstead that was of central importance to the village of Appelhülsen.
In the 1980s, the municipality of Nottuln recognized the potential of this historic farmstead. It acquired the Schulzenhof and converted it into a community center. The "Schulze Frenkings Hof" community center was officially opened in 1988 and has since been available as a venue for theater, concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events as well as for conferences, congresses and seminars.
