REVIEW MÜNSTERLAND FESTIVAL MEETS BURGJAZZ 2024

Special Edition: June 19–21, 2026

Three days of jazz at one of Westphalia’s most beautiful moated castles: From June 19–21, 2026, the Münsterland Festival and the BurgJazz series will once again join forces to bring international jazz greats and exciting new discoveries to Vischering Castle. The unique atmosphere of the medieval castle provides the setting for a weekend that combines top-notch music with a delightful day trip—including appealing dining options (see below).

At the same time, the program coincides with two popular regional events: the Münsterland Picnic Days and the Castles and Fortresses Day. This makes the weekend at Vischering Castle a lively gathering place for music and culture enthusiasts in the Münsterland region.

At the same time, it functions as a portal to the more than 100 castles, palaces and manor houses in its Münsterland neighborhood, as an extracurricular learning venue in the STEM field and as a venue for workshops, readings and concerts - a house of knowledge and culture for all generations and senses.

Accessibility: The event hall is equipped with an inductive hearing system. This means that the indoor concerts are also accessible to people with hearing impairments. Information on accessibility in the area of mobility can be found here.

THE WEEKEND

Picknick an der Burg Vischering © Münsterland e.V./Foodistas

Outstanding jazz meets a picnic event meets a stately castle—our event weekend was highlighted by two regional events that also took place that weekend:

Münsterland Picnic Days

“Me. You. Us. The Münsterland Celebrates Picnics!”: Under the banner of outdoor culinary delights, the Münsterland Picnic Days, held from June 18 to 21, featured numerous events throughout the region. Locals, visitors, and picnic enthusiasts were invited to celebrate the Münsterland way of life together.

How does a picnic concert work?
Visitors could bring their own picnics and blankets and enjoy the music against a picturesque backdrop. Some comfortable seating was also available, and for a small fee, a reserved seat at a table could be secured. Snacks were available for purchase on site.

Castles and Fortresses Day

Castle and Fortress Day offered the perfect opportunity to discover the region’s historical treasures. On Sunday, June 21, numerous castles and palaces hosted special events for visitors of all ages. In addition to culinary offerings, picnic areas, and guided tours of the buildings and grounds, visitors were treated to a variety of activities.
