CITY WALK THROUGH THE BELL CITY OF GESCHER ON 30 OCTOBER
A BELL EXPERIENCE THAT CAN BE EXPERIENCED WITH ALL THE SENSES
In the bell city of Gescher, visitors can expect an intensive bell experience that can be experienced with all the senses.
After a welcome at the Westfälisches Glockenmuseum Gescher, the handbell choir plays a short concert to set the mood for the day. The group then splits up, but the program is the same for everyone.
There is a guided tour of the bell museum, during which many historic bells can be admired and made to ring. Another highlight is a visit to the Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock bell foundry, one of the few foundries still in operation in Germany. On the way between the museum and the foundry, the public will embark on a sound walk by Austrian-born sound artist Mirijam Streibl, who will bring the sounds of bells from the Alps to Gescher town center.
MIRIJAM STREIBL: DIESTREIBL CREATES NEW SPACES OF SOUND AND EXPERIENCE
Mirijam Streibl was born in Austria and lives in Münster. She works as a music researcher and sound artist under the name dieStreibl. From an early age, she has devoted herself more to listening than to seeing. Currently, she is increasingly asking herself in her work: How does the world sound?
When dieStreibl is out and about in nature with microphones and hydrophones, in the city, outdoors, she captures the sound of the environment and is always amazed that there is music in everything that surrounds us. In her artistic work, she extracts the essence of a sound by combining it with electronic sounds. In doing so, she creates new spaces of sound and experience that move between reality and dream. At the Soundwalk in Gescher, visitors can experience Austria's world of sound. The soundwalk is arranged exclusively for the bell city, with original sounds from Austria.
