Finnish humor with "Heavy Trip" and "Heroes of the Arctic Circle"
There's something to laugh about here - in two places: In cooperation with the Filmwerkstatt Münster, the Münsterland Festival invites you to two film evenings, shedding light on the film country Finland. The team has selected two Finnish comedies that could hardly be more different.
At the kult in Vreden, Finnish directors Juuso Laatio and Jukka Vidgren will take the audience on a "heavy trip". Produced in 2018, this film is all about the heavy metal band Impaled Rektum and their first concert tour to Norway. What follows is a chaotic road trip with crowdsurfing coffins, heroic Vikings and a rocket launcher conflict between Finland and Norway. A comedy highlight not just for metal fans.
In the Alte Brennerei in Ennigerloh , "Heroes of the Arctic Circle" flickers across the screen - a comedy from 2010 by Dome Karukoski with Jussi Vatanen and Jasper Pääkkönen. In it, locality meets life crisis: because the analog TV is switched off in Janne's village in the Arctic Circle, his girlfriend Inari gives him money for a digital receiver. When Janne accidentally spends the money on beer, Inari is furious and gives him an ultimatum: either he gets the electrical appliance by the next morning or it's over. Together with his buddies Ralle and Kanne, he sets off on a nocturnal odyssey through Lapland.

On October 24, the documentary film "Eatnameamet" will also be shown as part of the Sámi-themed evening at the Geomuseum.

THE VENUES: KULT IN VREDEN AND THE OLD SCHWAKE DISTILLERY IN ENNIGERLOH
The kult in Vreden combines state-of-the-art architecture, museum, research and science. In the building, which opened in 2017, the juxtaposition of old and new could not be greater: exposed brick, dominant clinker facades, light-flooded areas and a 'chill-out' zone set an extraordinary accent on the cultural axis of the city of Vreden. Folkloristic and art-historical exhibits invite visitors on a journey back in time over more than 1400 years.
A cultural center in the middle of a former distillery: this is the Alte Brennerei Schwake in Ennigerloh. Since its conversion in the 1980s, events such as cabaret, theater, music and exhibitions have been held in the striking, historic building. The program is organized by the Alte Brennerei Schwake e. V. association. The building is also home not only to the smallest cinema in NRW, but also to the "Stickerei, Spitze & Co." museum with a collection of historical handicrafts.
