SIGRID HORN: DIALECT CHANSONS WITH HARP, UKULELE, CONCERTINA AND PIANO
The Viennese singer-songwriter Sigrid Horn will be a guest at the Münsterland Festival part 11 with her trio at Burg Hülshoff, providing food for thought with her socially critical songs.
Sigrid Horn sings in an idiosyncratic dialect and accompanies herself on the ukulele or piano. Both spatially and artistically, she commutes between the country and the city and incorporates something of both into her music. Before her solo activities, she fronted a band for years, with whom she performed several times at protest song contests. As a solo artist, she also ventured into other genres and explored poetry slam and hip hop stages under a different name. Socio-critical and feminist themes run like a common thread through her artistic existence. In 2020, she presented her second album "i bleib do" at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and was met with enthusiasm: the Viennese weekly newspaper "Falter" voted it one of the 50 most important Austropop albums of the past 50 years.
VENUE: HÜLSHOFF CASTLE IN HAVIXBECK
Hülshoff Castle near Havixbeck is one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Münsterland region. The castle is a typical Westphalian moated castle, which is mentioned in documents as early as the 11th century as Oberhof "Zum Hülshof". As the birthplace of Annette von Droste-Hülshoff, literature has always played a special role here. With the Center for Literature (CfL), the castle is being transformed into a center for the research and further development of literature, focusing on dialogue with other arts.
