From European Baroque to the Orient

Two musicians, a duo and a common ambition: to breathe new expression into the musical encounter between Orient and Occident and baroque music. These are Claire Antonini and Renaud Garcia-Fons, exceptional instrumentalists who have made a name for themselves in the jazz scene as well as in early music and world music.

Both are united by an unusual musical career: while Antonini excels not only on the baroque lute but also on the theorbo, the Iranian tar and the Kurdish tanbur, Garcia-Fons has developed an unmistakable sound language on his five-string double bass over the years - a musical combination that is multi-layered and colorful. At their performance at Burg Vischering, they will play pieces from their latest album "Farangi" - an elegant fusion of baroque, Kurdish and Persian elements as well as Garcia-Fons' own compositions.
