EXHIBITION: LAURA NIETO - WITH EYES WIDE OPEN FROM OCTOBER 12 AT GALERIE HOVESTADT
The paintings of the Spanish artist (*1978 in Medina del Campo) are atmospherically dense scenes that radiate vitality, allure and sensuality: street scenes, architectural views and observations of nature are imbued with a fine sense of observation and a delight in coloring.
Nieto instinctively conveys to the viewer her keen sense of the everyday and the situational, which she translates into a powerful composition of color surfaces, fine lines and multi-layered textures. Spaces open up for our thoughts and memories. The mixture of precision and poetry makes her paintings seem timeless and contemporary at the same time. At the Münsterland Festival at Galerie Hovestadt in Nottuln, Nieto showed a selection of her works for the first time in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The exhibition was complemented by the curated presentation "Sol y Sombra. Master Prints from Chillida to Picasso" in the Studio Gallery. It shows original prints by Chillida, Tàpies, Miró, Dalí and Picasso.
THE VENUES: BENTLAGE MONASTERY IN RHEINE AND FARB FORUM ALTES RATHAUS BORKEN
Past and present come together in a unique way at Galerie Hovestadt in Nottuln. The opening of the light-flooded gallery on the farm in Stockum in a former barn room took place in 2012. The architectural substance was largely preserved, creating a unique link between the rural past of the Münsterland region and international contemporary art.
