Catalonia meets Münsterland
Radical improvisation and poetic jazz don't go together? The Münsterland Festival Quartet proves the opposite. Traditionally, musicians from the host country meet regional groups. At the Münsterland Festival, the Catalan duo Magalí Sare and Manel Fortià and the collective EAT THE FROG unite their artistic worlds to create a unique dialog of sound.
While Sare and Fortià weave Ibero-American melodies with jazzy lightness, EAT THE FROG sets powerful accents with radical improvisation and pulsating rhythms. Together at Haus Marck, they deconstruct the familiar, form something new and create an encounter between voice, double bass, drums and trombone that connects rather than divides.
Magalí Sare and Manel Fortià also performed together at the Pablo Picasso Art Museum on November 7.

THE VENUE: KULTURGUT HAUS NOTTBECK
First mentioned in documents in the 14th century, the still existing four-winged complex at the foot of the hilltop town of Tecklenburg bears witness to the architecture of the time. The manor house dates back to the middle of the 16th century. In 1643, Haus Marck was the site of negotiations for the Peace of Westphalia. The present form is mainly based on alterations dating from 1754. The von Diepenbroick-Grüter family has lived in the house since the 16th century. Concerts and readings are regularly held in the public part of the house, especially in the Knights' Hall.
