PILGRIMAGE ON THE PATH OF JACOBS

In the footsteps of St. James
For centuries, people have been making pilgrimages across Europe to the tomb of the Apostle James the Elder in Santiago de Compostela. And while the main route, the Camino Francés, leads through northern Spain, there are also two sections of the historic path in Münsterland. Hiking guide Jupp Räkers and archaeologist and pilgrimage route expert Ulrike Steinkrüger led us along the west-east route - with one or two surprises in store.
The first section of around 19 kilometers began at the Warendorf market square. The route led to the pilgrimage site of Telgte, where a communal dinner, an overnight stay in the Heidehotel Waldhütte and a concert by Erdal Akkaya and Jerónimo Maya in the RELÌGIO awaited.
The second stage on Sunday covered 14 and 17 kilometers respectively from Telgte to Münster. There was the option of taking the bus or train back to Warendorf.
The offer could be booked as a complete package or just for Saturday.
