The flute and flamenco
Trinidad Jiménez conquers flamenco with the flute. Unusual for this genre, as it is not a typical instrument of this music, but that is precisely what makes its sound so special. Born in Andalusia, Jiménez uses it to tell stories that are otherwise reserved for singing.
Her playing also combines the power of flamenco with electronic effects, rock elements and the freedom of jazz. This is particularly evident in her current project "ELÉCTRICA", which she also presented at the Münsterland Festival. Jiménez opens up new musical dimensions with every note. At the Marienburg in Coesfeld, she proves that the flute can give flamenco a completely new, fascinating voice.

THE VENUE: MARIENBURG
The "Steckinghof", already mentioned in documents in the 13th century, belonged to the Cistercian monastery of Marienborn in Coesfeld for 500 years. The name "Marienburg" comes from the nuns who set up a home for orphaned girls there in 1863. It was closed in 1980. Since 1985, the Marienburg has belonged to the Haus Hall Foundation, which operates facilities for people with mental and multiple disabilities: Residential groups, a workshop, leisure activities and day groups for senior citizens.
We are delighted that music brings people together in this place - open, inclusive and unifying.
